Protect YOUR countryside service
- Proposed cuts in the countryside service will reduce staffing levels to a bare minimum putting staff & the public at risk.
- The ranger team manages 40 sites across the borough. Nearly 500,000 people per year visit and appreciate the countryside which includes moors, meadows, woodlands, canals & rivers. The proposed cuts will lead to a spiral of neglect which will impact on people and wildlife.
- Oldham’s countryside is a haven for some of our most endangered wildlife and a place where anyone can go & relax regardless of where they are from or what they earn. Defend jobs & protect our countryside for all to enjoy.
- The countryside team work with schools, volunteers and the local community to help people discover, protect, enjoy their environment & learn new skills. Loss of jobs will bring an end to this vital service.
